My role within my group was the director, being a very open and confident person I approached the public and asked if they would be available to do interviews. I helped out the less confident people in my group and jumped in and helped their interviews along when they were stuck for questions.
Overall we had a very wide range of ages and professions, which made our interviews more reliable as it was more representative of the general public. For data protection reasons we had to be careful about approaching and the interviewing the pubic. We made sure that we introduced ourselves properly as students and informed the interviewees what we were using the material for and that we didn’t need their names or any of their personal details.
The man I interviewed was a World War 2 veteran, he made it challenging and didn’t make the interviewing process easy. I had to keep asking small questions to keep the interview going along. He came across as quite aggressive and seemed quite offended at the question I asked which was “what are your views on scrapping remembrance day?” when he gave me short answers I asked him questions like , “do you know anyone who was involved in these wars?”, “How have these wars effected you?” and “ Do you think we should concentrate on the more current wars?” This then resulted to him making more comments and remarks and the more aggravated he got about the questions the more comments he gave me. I had to be careful to not aggravate him too much as the interview could of got out of hand.
The editing process was quite easy, I used the programme sound booth to edit down the interview that I did. I then opened this into sound cloud so I could put this onto my blog. I cut my voice out of the interview so it was just one long running talk from the interviewee. I found this quite difficult to do as most of his answers were short and it was hard to make them flow together to make it seem like one long sentence. I think it turned out quite well but if I were to do this again I would interview a lot more people as I would have a lot more to chose from therefore when edited down it would sound better when all the answers are combined together.
