Tv evaluation

The roles my group had were: Matt was the camera man as he had the steadiest hand and in our first try out using cameras his shots came out the best. Laura Ball was in charge of sound and held the microphone as well as editing the sound produced. Laura battle was the camera assistant and also helped write the scripts for the Piece to camera and the voice over. Heather was the second presenter as well as assisting in editing the final product. Everyone in the group helped out in the editing process.

My roles within my group were director and presenter. Other team members had attempted to do the presenting but found it difficult and felt that it didn’t suit them so they took on other roles. I feel comfortable in front of the camera and as a group we decided that it was best for me to do the presenting.

As a director I thought it was best that everyone’s ideas were incorporated into the video, so everyone’s opinion and ideas were listened to and most of them carried through. I found it difficult to turn down ideas due to the time schedule we had as we had a time limit on how long we could use the equipment for. We did manage our time well and took many more clips than we needed which was very helpful in the editing process as it allowed us to pick and chose the best clips which could flow well together.

As a presenter I felt that I looked comfortable and added a quirky edge to the video but I spoke very quickly and it wasn’t as clear and precise as it could have been. We only did one shot of this Piece to camera as everyone felt that it was good enough but when we got back to the editing room we realised that it needed work but it was good enough to use.

If I were to do this in the future I think I would like to do both roles again but concentrate on one role as it allows me to fulfil the role better. When I was the presenter I didn’t get to see the product when it was being filmed and it would have been wise for me to watch it back before I went back to the editing room. It would have also allowed me to spend more time on practicing my scripts and to concentrate on pronouncing and speaking better for the audience.
